The Girl with the Golden Recipe: Meet Jenay Fox
Every great flavor has a story, but Jenay’s started earlier than most.
At age 11, Jenay had a life-changing meeting with renowned Dallas chef Kent Rathbun. She went in looking for advice; she walked out with a job. Rathbun was so impressed by her lemon bars that he put them on the menu of his top-tier restaurant—with 6th-grade Jenay as the official baker.
That early spark led her to the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in New York. After mastering the science of sweets, she honed her skills at the legendary Emporium Pies back in Texas.
In the middle of the 2020 pandemic, Jenay, her partner Issac, and her dog took a leap of faith and moved to Temecula. With the world on pause, Jenay started as a barista at The Press Espresso. It wasn't long before they realized their "regular" behind the counter was actually a world-class pastry chef.
What started as a childhood "first job" has blossomed into reality. Today, Jenay is the heart of Lemon Bar Bakery, supplying The Press with artisanal treats and bringing her world-famous bars to local markets. When enjoying her treats you’re not just buying a dessert; you’re joining a journey 15 years in the making.
Today Jenay and Isaac have graduated from local markets to their very own gorgeous bakery space. While the shop itself has a great "vibe," it’s the magic happening behind the counter that has the town talking.
In an era of boxed mixes and artificial fillers, The Lemon Bar is a breath of fresh, citrus-scented air. They’ve built their reputation on a simple, stubborn rule: Only real ingredients. Though they are gaining national attention, the heart of the business remains personal. Jenay and Isaac specialize in luxury gourmet cakes for weddings, birthdays, and life’s biggest milestones.
