Go Behind the Cellar Door: The Ultimate Barrel Tasting Adventure
Get ready to go "behind the curtain" for a weekend of discovery as Barrel Tasting Weekend returns to Temecula Valley Wine Country! This isn't your typical tasting room experience; it’s an exclusive, self-guided adventure where more than 30 wineries open their private cellars to the public. You’ll have the rare opportunity to taste wines still aging in the barrel—sampling the "future" of the valley long before these bottles ever reach a shelf. To make the experience even more indulgent, each barrel sample is expertly paired with a chef-inspired small bite, offering a delicious glimpse into the winemaking process and the education behind every pour.
The weekend is designed to be explored at your own pace between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., whether you choose to join us for a single day or make it a full-weekend getaway. After checking in between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. (at Europa Village on Saturday or Cougar Vineyard & Winery on Sunday), the valley is yours to navigate. While we ask you to select your preferred stops ahead of time to help our hosts prepare, your route remains flexible as you move through the vines. Since the participating wineries are spread across the beautiful Temecula landscape, this is a driving event rather than a walkable one. To ensure a stress-free day, many guests opt for the Grapeline Barrel Tasting Shuttle, though ride-shares and personal designated drivers are always great options.
There are two ways to enjoy the festivities: the Winery Pass, which includes wine samples and a commemorative logo glass, and a Designated Driver ticket for those who want to focus on the gourmet pairings and cellar tours. Most guests find that visiting four to six wineries creates the perfect, relaxed afternoon. As you explore, keep an eye out for event-only specials and early access to future releases—it’s the best time to snag a deal on a bottle you love. Just remember to bring your ID, wear your most comfortable shoes for the cellar floors, and get ready for a "rain or shine" celebration of world-class winemaking.
The cost for each day is $89 plus a $3 fee. If someone is attending as a designated driver their cost is $49 for each day. All major credit cards accepted.
